Prof. Dr. Manca Erzetič, research fellow of CeNic, has edited the volume Smiselna dezorientacija in nihilistični precep [Meaningful Disorientation and Nihilistic Cleft] (INR, 2026). This book brings together twenty authors from various humanistic disciplines to reflect on the contemporary crisis of meaning and orientation in human life. The volume –resulting from the research project led by Prof. Dr. Dean Komel (The Hermeneutic Problem of Understanding Human Existence and Coexistence in the Era of Nihilism, 2022–2025)–addresses philosophical, social, historical, religious, and artistic issues related to contemporary nihilism. Furthermore, it highlights how the loss of values, norms, and traditions affects the understanding of existence and coexistence, while also examining the role of technology, artificial intelligence, and the media in the construction or disorientation of meaning. Drawing on fields ranging from philosophy to theology and cultural studies, the volume offers a critical and interdisciplinary perspective that seeks to provoke a profound reflection on the relevance of the question of meaning in contemporary life, as well as on the possibilities of reconfiguring shared ways of inhabiting the world.
